Welcome to Follow The Spend
What FTS is, who it's for, and the problem it solves.
Follow The Spend is a marketing attribution and visitor analytics platform built specifically for Shopify stores. It tracks every visitor from the moment they land on your store, builds a complete journey across every session and channel, and ties every order back to the marketing source that actually drove it.
If you've ever asked any of these questions and not gotten a confident answer, FTS is for you:
- "Is this Meta ad campaign actually profitable, or is it just stealing credit from email?"
- "Why does my Shopify revenue not match what Meta Ads Manager is reporting?"
- "Where exactly are people dropping out of my funnel?"
- "How long does a typical buyer take to convert, and which channels touched them along the way?"
The problem we solve
Out-of-the-box Shopify reports tell you what happened (orders, revenue, AOV). They don't tell you why. Each ad platform reports its own version of the truth, optimized to make itself look as effective as possible. GA4 misses huge chunks of attribution due to consent, ad-blockers, and ITP. The result: store owners spending real money on marketing without confident answers about which channels are pulling weight.
FTS sits one layer below the ad platforms. We capture every visitor session on your store directly via a first-party pixel and Shopify webhooks, stitch them into multi-touch journeys, and apply attribution models to give you a single, internally-consistent picture of where your revenue actually comes from.
Who FTS is for
FTS is built for Shopify store owners doing $50K–$5M/year in revenue who run paid acquisition.
That's a specific shape:
- Shopify-first. We're tightly integrated with Shopify's OAuth, Script Tag API, and webhooks. Other platforms (WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento) are not on our v1 roadmap.
- Doing some paid marketing. If you're 100% organic, the value of attribution is much lower. FTS shines when you're spending on Meta, Google, TikTok, or email and need to know what's working.
- At a scale where attribution matters. Below ~$50K/year, your channel mix is usually obvious. Above ~$5M/year, you typically need a full data team and tools like Triple Whale or custom warehousing. FTS fits cleanly in the middle.
What you get
Every Follow The Spend account includes:
- Pulse — your live operations dashboard. Today's revenue, channel mix, top-performing campaigns, and anomalies, all updated in near real-time.
- Marketing Attribution Models — first-touch, last-touch, and linear models, switchable in one click. Same journeys, three different lenses.
- Visitor Journeys — click into any visitor and see the full timeline: every page view, every channel they came from, every order they placed.
- Server-Side Tracking (coming soon) — first-party data that survives ad-blockers, ITP, and privacy browsers.
What FTS doesn't do (yet)
We're transparent about scope. v1.0 doesn't include:
- Multi-store / agency views. Each Shopify store is its own FTS account in v1. Agency dashboards are post-v1.
- Custom event tracking. We capture what Shopify and the storefront tell us. Custom events for non-commerce actions are post-v1.
- Ad spend ingestion. FTS shows attributed revenue per channel; it does not pull spend from ad platforms to compute ROAS automatically. You can divide attributed revenue by your spend manually for now.
- API access. Read-only API for exporting your data is on the v1.x roadmap, not v1.0.
